Department of Anatomy

Introduction

The educational goals of the Department of Anatomy are to prepare the students for clinical courses with the knowledge of the Anatomy, which is the one of the fundamental medical education. Our education program is not only to train the future physicians and researchers with the knowledge of the basic medical sciences including anatomy, embryology, histology, and neuroanatomy, but also to impart the knowledge of applied medicine like as, immunology and forensic medicine. All the courses accompany the related Labs, anatomy, histology and neuroanatomy. Our Department focuses its research activities in the field of Immunology and Neuroscience, which spans Woman disease, B-cell immunity, Epstein Barr Virus (EBV), Exosome, tumor immunotherapy, and neurodegenerative disorders. Our research activities are expanding and growing with exceptional products with the supports of government based projects.

History

1979 Began the Department of Anatomy when the College of Medicine opened.
1979 The first Chairman, Professor Ki Won Bae was inaugurated.
1984 Yeong Cheol Yang was appointed to the full-time instructor
1987 Yeong Cheol Yang was reassigned to the assistant professor
1989 Yeong Cheol Yang was appointed to the director of electron microscopy Lab. of the Central Medical Institute
1991 Seong Soo Park was appointed to the full-time instructor
1994 Seong Soo Park was reassigned to the assistant professor
1994 Professor Ki Won Baewas appointed to the president of the Central Medical Institute
1994 Seong Soo Park was appointed to the director of electron microscopy Lab. of the Institute of Liver
_____Transplantation 1995 Seong Soo Park resigned
1996 Yeong Cheol Yang was reassigned to the associate professor
1997 Tae Hwan Park was appointed tot h full-time instructor
1999 Ki Won Bae was inaugurated to the 8th Dean of the School of Medicine
2000 Hur Dae Young was appointed to the full-time instructor
2000 Tae Hwan Park was reassigned to the assistant professor
2002 Yeong Cheol Yang was appointed to the 2nd Chairman
2003 Tae Hwan Park resigned
2003 Yeong Cheol Yang resigned
2003 Hur Dae Young was appointed to the 3rd Chairman
2003 Ki Won Bae was appointed to the Chair-professor
2003 Department of Anatomy, the Institute of Tumor Immunology was founded
2004 Practical room for Anatomy was renovated
2005 Yeong Seok Kim was appointed to the full-time instructor
2005 Hur Dae Young was reassigned to the assistant professor
2008 Hyunkeun Song was appointed the full-time instructor
2008 Hur Dae Young was appointed to the director of Animal Laboratory Facility
2010 Hur Dae Young was reassigned to the associate professor
2010 Yeong Seok Kim was reassigned to the assistant professor
2011 Seonghan Kim was appointed to the full-time director
2011 Hyunkeun Song was reassigned to the assistant professor
2012 Hyunkeun Song resigned and moved to Depart. of microbiology
2012 Yeong Seok Kim was appointed to the 4th Chairman
2012 Seonghan Kim was reassigned to the assistant professor
2013 Daejin Kim was appointed to the associate professor

Research

Faculty of the Department of Anatomy focuses its research activities in the fields of immunology and neuroscience. The main research interests and scope of their research are;
• Differentiation and functional activity of B cell in germinal center formation
• Pathogenesis and immune reaction of Epstein-Barr virus
• Exosome derived from cancerous cell and its functions to other cells
• Molecular biology and therapeutic study using 3D & 2D cultured cancer cells
• Functions and signal transduction of immunoactive material induced immune regulatory mechanism
• Cancer Immunotherapy and combined therapy
• Pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases and therapeutic strategy
